Mission: Cultivating learners who pursue Christ through education
|
With a mission of cultivating learners who pursue Christ through education, H.O.P.E. Central seeks to create an educational option that causes children and families to dream again in the Old Gordon area. Through this model, our desire is to see our students have a relationship with Jesus, discover their unique identity in Christ, and to succeed academically. In August 2017, we plan to open our doors and serve elementary students. Each year, we will add a grade level until we have grades k-5.
Synergy Multifamily Apartments is a section 8 housing development, located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive off of Fulton Industrial in Atlanta, GA. Fulton Industrial is a highway known for commercial sexual exploitation. We use commercial sexual exploitation as a more sufficient term to describe human trafficking. Human trafficking is defined as "the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act". Atlanta was ranked as number one for having the largest underground sex economy in the United States with an economy of $290 million in 2007. In addition, the average age of entry into the sex industry is between the ages of 11-14. Most of the children in this apartment complex attend Towns Elementary School, which is ranked 1,194 out of 1,233 in Atlanta Public Schools system. Out of the third graders who were tested in 2016 at Towns Elementary, 1.8% were proficient in English Language Arts as opposed to the district proficiency of 31.8%. The median income for those in the Old Gordon neighborhood is $15,525. Students and families in the area need another education option that provides small teacher to student ratio, 10:1, teachers who are willing to work hard and try new ideas and strategies, and a Biblical model that pursues Christ through education. H.O.P.E. Central will provide a place of hope, dreaming, and transformation in the Synergy and Old Gordon community as students are afforded the foundation they need to succeed in life.

Atlanta Dream center: Founder
The Atlanta Dream Center aims to reach, rescue and restore men and women out of commercial sexual exploitation and addiction and to provide prevention for at risk children. Their main programs include iAm focusing on homeless men, Out of Darkness focusing on women caught in commercial sexual exploitation, and Metro Kidz which focuses on prevention for children in high risk neighborhoods. Through this school they aim to see the glory of God displayed and to see the flourishing of the children and a neighborhood who is able to dream again.
